“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
What is Energy Efficiency?
When any device that uses energy to perform a task, like a car or dishwasher, from the amount of energy put into the device, there is a certain amount of energy lost in the process. Most of this energy loss is made when the device creates something unnecessary with the power that it is given, such as when a light bulb produces useless and sommetimes inconvenient heat. Being energy efficient simply means improvising through strategy and research, to achieve the intended task without the unwanted energy. It is a measure of how much input energy is converted into useful output energy.

Why is it important to reduce energy consumption?
- Personally? When you reduce your household energy usage altogether, there are incredible money savings, as some energy sources can be very costly.
- Environmentally? It is incredibly important to reduce energy usage from an environmental point of view because right now, the power consumption in Australia every year is 11,700 KW per year, compared to the world average of 3,000 KW. Make the switch to Greenpower and create a world of difference to our earth.
- Politically? Today's world is largely based on energy. Rising energy bills and loss of non-renewable resources are taking the world by storm. There is enormous pressure on political parties to provide energy saving policies for the sake of a eco-friendly future. This pressure on these political parties is created by the pressure on the society to save power, therefore people want to vote for a party with eco-frendly policies.
- Socially? Make an effort to quit social networking as many of the devices that are used socially such as computers, TVs, iPads and phones use a huge amount of power. The US alone in July 2012 spent over 230,060 years in front of a screen. Get off your devices and play outside.
